Corded Mouse

I was browsing the web looking for a wireless mouse to go with my new laptop with Core i7 processor running Windows 7 when I finally decided to try this Logitech V450 Nano Cordless Laser Mouse after reading some reviews about it.

I chose this particular model because of its tiny receiver that goes in a USB port. The smaller the receiver the better it is for me because I know, it will be less susceptible to damage.

There are only a few colors to choose from with this model which may be a downside for people who love colorful gadgets. However, I chose the black color because it’s classic. I found the design rather ordinary. There is nothing revolutionary about its appearance, but I disregarded that and instead opt to go for its promised performance. On the bottom of this mouse are 4 slip pads. This eye shaped pads enables the mouse to slide with fluidity even on rough surfaces.

Perhaps the biggest issue I found is the size. Due to its small size, people with large hands might have difficulty using it. Mine is rather big and it took me quite a while to get the “feel” and I got used to it after an hour or so.

As far as performance is concerned, this model performed well according to my expectations. There is no need to install additional software, I plugged the receiver into my laptop’s USB port and Windows 7 recognized it instantly. And an on and off button is located at the bottom of the mouse that can be used to turn off the power when not in use for a long time — to save on battery. And when the mouse is idle for a certain period, it goes to sleep mode and comes back to action when you move it.

Accuracy is great for a little mouse like this. I used it to play in one shooting game and it responded very well. It brought the pointer to where I want to go with 99.99% preciseness.

The range of this mouse is very good. I had tested it at about 5 meters away for curiosity’s sake and it still worked. Of course, there is nobody who will use the mouse that far but it is safe to say that the mouse will work anywhere when it is in the same room with the receiver.

I also tested it on various surfaces and it worked well. Keep in mind, though, not using it on mirrors and other super shiny surfaces. The pointer becomes erratic on these materials.

It has a couple of “AA” batteries that powers it up. I have been using it for over a month now with a rather heavy usage (at least 5 hours a day), and it is still going strong. The on/off button and the sleep mode feature did the trick. At least I didn’t have to spend a lot on battery replacements.

In general, I can say I had made a good investment. I am impressed with my V450 and very satisfied with its performance. It is indeed a little super mouse.

If you are looking for a corded mouse, Logitech Corded Mouse M500 will work for you best. If you want to find out why, then I encourage you to read on.

Increasing your efficiency is the Logitech Corded Mouse M500 hyper-fast scrolling. It also consist of laser tracking, a comfortable grasp, backward and forward buttons and plug-and-play installation

The super-quick scrolling feature gives you maximized output. You are in command of the speed. You can take off through long documents or move into the click-to-click mode for slides, photos or lists. You can also go through web pages as quickly as you want. The scroll wheel, which is a feature of Logitech’s more current mice models, allows you do the super-quick scrolling where you can toggle between a regular and super scrolling. The scroll wheel can be pushed to the right or left for horizontal scrolling. You would not want to use your old mouse the moment you try this.

Laser Precision is 1000 dpi. Delivering smooth and accurate tracking is the laser sensor which works nearly on any surface. It does not, however, work on clear glass or mirrors. This feature makes the Logitech Corded Mouse M500 a whole lot better and accurate than the older models of optical mice.

It has a contoured design with soft side grips. Aside from giving you the support, control is at your hands. It does not matter how long you want to work, surf and play, you can do this conveniently. With its ergonomic design, you will not get too much strain compared with the other manufacturer’s mice. M500 sides are of rubber which provides you with a good grasp while made of textured plastic are the left and right buttons.

The forward and back buttons which allows one to easily go through powerpoint slides or websites are situated on its left side. It is just within easy reach of the thumb.

Installation is easy because of the plug-and-play feature. Fresh from the box, just plug in the plug-and-play USB and it is ready to work.

What are the advantages you will get from M500?

* It is more firm than any Logitech mouse such as the MX500, MX700 and the G7

* The curvier design is more friendly and ergonomic as it lessens discomfort and physical effort

* Good positioning of the back and forward buttons

* The wheel’s capability to be tilted on the left or right gives more additional functionality

* With the free spinning style of the scroll wheel, it is just so easy to scroll and watch it work on long documents.

The Disadvantages?
I find the scroll wheel to be a bit slack. Amid each click of the wheel, is a small bit of play. This can be annoying because just a minor movement will lead you to register in games, thus if you are in the middle of an FPS game, it can unintentionally toggle weapons as well. Gamers can try other Logitech’s gaming mice.

The M500 will work better if you are right-handed. A left-handed person can still use it but it is not as comfy as the back and forward buttons are located on the left side of the mouse.

As a whole, the Logitech Corded Mouse M500 is a superb mouse for office and desktop use. You find that using it is very much convenient and comfortable. Its features and the super fast scrolling are well-planned and put into operation. On top of that, it is not as pricey as the other cordless mice that also have the same features.
